Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond Fairway Wood - 3 Perspectives

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood.

The Elyte Triple Diamond (♦︎♦︎♦︎) benefits from the same cutting-edge technologies as the standard Elyte but features a more compact, pear-shaped footprint with a taller face. This, combined with a more forward CG, is designed for players with higher swing speeds or who would otherwise benefit from low spin.

How does the Elyte TD fairway wood actually perform when put to the test? How does it compare to its sister models? Who is it best suited for? Is it worth putting in the bag?

Here’s what will be covered in the review:

Read on to learn what you need to know to make an informed purchase.

Note: Unless otherwise indicated, stock shafts and stock grips are used when evaluating clubs and the 3W is evaluated in the case of fairway woods. In most cases, the golf clubs reviewed on Golfstead are acquired temporarily for testing purposes and are not purchased. The review that follows is based on the personal experience and research of the author. Because everyone’s swing and body are different, results with a particular club may differ from person to person.

What are the reviews like?

The Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood won a gold medal on the Golf Digest 2025 Hot List and enjoys wide praise from consumers, with a 5/5 (100% recommended) rating on the official Callaway store. Critic reviews tend to be somewhat mixed.

  • incredible responsive feel when struck in the sweet spot
  • great low-face performance
  • classic fairway wood shape
  • capable of producing bombs
  • penetrating flight
  • expensive
  • lacks forgiveness

The Features

The Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood benefits from the same features and tech as the standard Elyte and Elyte X, namely:

  • Ai10x Face: delivers ten times more control points than the Ai Smart Face of the previous generation, further enhancing performance in the form of higher ball speeds, tighter dispersions, and better optimized spin and launch.
  • C300 Face Cup: a wraparound cup face, made of C300 maraging steel, that enhances speed and spin consistency across the face.
  • Tungsten Speed Wave: a special 35g weight suspended in the head of the 3-7 woods that shifts the CG low and forward for high ball speeds, high launch and low spin. It also improves performance low on the face, which is a common mis-hit area for most players.
  • Step Sole: the sole of the club follows a unique “step” pattern where the middle and back portion drops off from the front of the sole. It’s designed to make 57% less turf contact than a traditional sole design, resulting in cleaner, smoother turf interaction with minimal drag, minimal skidding, and more consistent strikes.

Where the Elyte TD differs is in its size, shape, and weighting:

  • compact footprint (starts at 169cc for the 3W) that has more of a traditional pear shape
  • forward CG, enabled by a forward weight screw, for a more penetrating ball flight with less spin
  • deeper face for more versatility and control

The Performance

In the sections that follow, I’ll talk about my experience with the Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood. Let’s jump right in.

Distance

I was not seeing higher ball speeds with the Elyte TD compared to the standard model. I was expecting a bit of an increase, but the numbers were more or less the same during my field test.

In addition to this, for some reason, I was getting similar spin rates between the two models. One of my colleagues, however, was getting less spin with the TD, which is what you would expect.

In my case, I was seeing a few yards less carry and total distance than the standard Elyte on the average. I reckon this club isn’t the best choice for me.

Forgiveness

Given the higher-than-expected spin rates, I was expecting more forgiveness to compensate. That didn’t turn out to be the case, although I wouldn’t say forgiveness is terrible.

There is some ball speed retention on mis-hits, but it’s at about the level you would expect for a low-spin wood. Dispersions can get pretty wide if you’re not consistent with your ballstriking.

As with its sister models, however, low-face performance is quite impressive.

Playability/Trajectory

Trajectories with the Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood tend to be mid-low — marginally lower than the standard Elyte. Spin is low, but not as low as I’d like it to be personally. Penetration is good.

The deeper face of this club allows players more control and versatility when hitting off of a tee, but better players should still be able to hit off the deck with relative ease.

Overall, I didn’t feel like the control and workability of the Elyte TD was worlds better than the standard model. It’s unquestionably the most players-oriented model in the Elyte family, but the performance difference isn’t that huge.

The Look

As with Callaway’s TD models from past generations, the Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood has a more compact ‘tour-preferred’ shape. This means less elongation from front to back and a more pear-shaped footprint from the address perspective.

Also apparent is the taller face which gives your eyes a different visual experience when set up behind the ball. This face has a unique geometry, simpler than the Elyte and Elyte X, that consists solely of full-length horizontal lines.

The club has the same “Elyte” theme as its sister models but is the only one to have a glossy black crown instead of matte. It also lacks a chevron alignment aid. This contributes to a more traditional aesthetic that will appeal to many better players.

As with the Elyte TD driver, the TD fairway wood appears to sit slightly open at address. The sole aesthetic has the same style as the other models with the exception of a forward weight screw.

The Sound & Feel

Like the other models in the Elyte family, the Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood produces a satisfying “click” sound at impact. The pitch, to my ear, is lower-pitched and more similar to the Elyte X, but it’s the most muted sound in the line.

One of the best feels I’ve ever experienced in golf is when you catch a Callaway Triple Diamond club in the center of the face, and the Elyte TD is no exception. It’s a perfect mix of tremendous responsiveness and solidness that immediately lets you know that the ball is going to travel a long way.

As you move away from the center of the face into mis-hit regions, the sound gets more hollow, while the feel gets less stable. There is ample feedback, both through the hands and auditorily, for diagnosing your misses.

Where To Buy This Fairway Wood Online

The natural place to go to order an Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood with custom specifications (loft, length, shaft, grip, etc.) is this page on the Callaway store.

If you want to save some money, you can find discounts on eBay.

Optionally look at what’s available on PGA TOUR SuperstoreGlobal Golf or Amazon. The first two vendors may offer club trade-ins, performance guarantees, and/or financing plans to help you minimize the financial hit.

Final Thoughts

It became apparent during my time with the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond fairway wood that it’s simply not well-suited to my game. The spin was too high, it wasn’t as controllable as I hoped it would be, and it didn’t feel quite right throughout the swing.

Having said that, there is great performance to be found in this club, as the launch is still low, the ball flight holds up well in the wind, and the taller face makes hitting off the tee very enjoyable. Plus, the look, sound and feel are all top-notch.

I have no doubt that other players, especially many single-digit handicappers and scratch golfers, may have a different experience with the Elyte TD than I did in terms of spin and distance. However, I much prefer the standard model, which has similar low-spin potential while being considerably more forgiving.
